Operations accounting

The cost book, the sales book, and the investor check, without the spreadsheets.

WellsManager handles the operations accounting a small operator actually does every month: record sales, book well costs, run the operating statement, and pay investors. It sits beside your general ledger rather than replacing it.

Sales by tank

Record oil and gas sales by tank with barrels, price, production date, production tax, and cleanup and conservation fees. Capacity warnings catch a sale that exceeds the tank.

→ Product type, barrels, price
→ Taxes and fees on the sale
→ Well and tank sales reports

Well costs, line by line

Each cost carries the well, vendor, invoice number and date, type, category, unit, quantity, and frequency, with the maintenance record attached when there is one.

→ Vendor directory
→ Workover cost report
→ Costs tied to the work ticket

Operating statement and distributions

Close a period and the operating statement shows each investor the net income per lease, the subtotal, any unpaid previous balance, and the total due. Payments are scheduled and recorded against the investor.

→ Per-investor statement
→ Unpaid balance carried
→ Payment history

Exports and AI briefs

Reports export to spreadsheets for your bookkeeper, and the dashboard carries a short written brief on what changed in production, revenue, and field activity.

→ Spreadsheet exports
→ Dashboard briefs
→ Ask Claude what a well cost
What it is not

WellsManager is not a general ledger, payroll, or tax package. It does not post journal entries, file severance tax, or produce audited financials. It produces the operational numbers your bookkeeper or CPA books from.

FAQ

Straight answers.

Does it replace QuickBooks?

No. WellsManager produces the sales, cost, and distribution detail; your bookkeeper still keeps the ledger. Exports make that hand-off a file rather than a retype.

Can it handle joint interest billing?

It allocates costs by each investor's expense interest on the operating statement. It does not generate separate JIB invoices today.

How are investors paid?

Distributions are scheduled per investor, recorded as payments, and shown on the statement with the arithmetic. Money moves through your bank, not through WellsManager.

Is pricing by well count?

Each plan includes a number of producing and inactive wells, tanks, and investors. Take the short quiz on the pricing page to see which plan fits.
